Alex Pereira had it all in the world of combat sports- a fantastic kickboxing career with titles in two weight classes at Glory (Middleweight) and Light Heavyweight- a feat achieved by no kickboxer in the promotion before him. The Brazilian decided to move to MMA after verbal attacks by his arch-rival Israel Adesanya.
Alex Pereira started competing professionally in MMA in 2015 and moved to the UFC six years later. Since then, he has emerged as one of the best contenders in the promotion- securing two UFC titles (Middleweight and Light Heavyweight) in the quickest time possible.
The Brazilian has a respectable resume in the UFC- fighting four former world champions including Israel Adesanya. Pereira is often seen as a no-nonsense fighter who focuses on fighting rather than creating controversies or drama.
UFC legend Conor McGregor, who was about to make a comeback at UFC 303, pulled out due to an injury. Pereira was among the few fighters who could be considered for an emergency replacement for UFC 303 main event.
The Brazilian just fought in UFC 300 and is fighting again just a little over two months- making him one of the most active champions in the promotion.
