FPV (First Person View)

A method of controlling a drone where the operator uses a live video feed from the drone’s camera, displayed on a screen or goggles.

ESC (Electronic Speed Controller)

A device that controls the speed of the drone's motors.

Gimbal

A pivoted support that allows the rotation of an object about a single axis. In drones, it is used to stabilise the camera.

Telemetry

The process of recording and transmitting the readings of instruments, typically for monitoring the drone’s status (altitude, speed, etc).

RTH (Return to Home)

A feature that brings the drone back to its takeoff point automatically, often activated by low battery, loss of signal, or manually by the operator.

Waypoints

Predefined points in space that the drone is programmed to follow, enabling autonomous flight paths.

Geofencing

A virtual boundary is set up to restrict drone flight within certain areas, enhancing safety and compliance with regulations.

BVLOS (Beyond Visual Line of Sight)

Operating a drone beyond the pilot’s line of sight, usually requires special permissions and advanced technology.
