Poirier Set to Challenge Makhachev at UFC 302

Dustin Poirier (United States) is set to face UFC Lightweight champion Islam Makhachev (Russia) for the title at UFC 302 on June 2. With Conor McGregor (Ireland) making his MMA comeback at UFC 303, speculations are on whether Poirier will face McGregor again.

A Three-Fight Rivalry

Poirier and McGregor have fought thrice, with the American winning twice. McGregor has repeatedly stated that he has business to settle with Poirier.

'Don't Need That Energy'

In a recent interview with ESPN, Poirier said that all he wants is the UFC Lightweight belt, and the ship has sailed for a rematch with McGregor. “I don’t feel the need to fight him again at all. I don’t need that [bad] energy in my life,” he said.
